Adults that host parties for their kids.
The law in Georgia allows parents to provide alcohol to their kids as long as it is done indside their own home. See O.C.G.A. 3-3-23(c). Many parents have heard of this provision and in an effort to keep their kids at home, allow their kids and their friends to drink at their house. This is illegal and should not be done. O.C.G.A. 3-3-23(c) only allows a parent or guardian to provide alcohol to their own child while at home. It is a misdemeanor to provide alcohol to any other minor. It does not matter, even if that minor’s parents’ have given permission, it’s still a crime.Â
